About Oak and Palm Ministries

Meet Briana
I am just my “Father’s daughter” telling stories about what it’s like to live life with my favorite person in the world.
My first memories with Jesus began at three years old, when I would crawl out of bed after lights out to trace the words I couldn’t yet read of my beginners’ Bible. In the light of the hallway I’d think about the stories that had been read to me and how much I loved the main character in them.
However, my background being raised in a hyper-fundamentalist cult along with chronic illness that began in childhood trapped me in a dark, destructive world that felt very far from those early moments. My questions and inability to reconcile what I had been taught with what was in the Bible led me on a long, costly journey back to the heart of God. As the Lord began digging up the roots of religion in my life, He brought me back to that early place of presence and intimacy that He’s always intended each of us to experience from the very beginning.
I treasure good friends, good food and good wine, and as I set the table with my stories, I hope you come and sit with me as we move away from the old structures of church systems that prioritized platform, celebrity, and the traditions of man, and into the final destination of the church that honors family, living from our new identity in Jesus, serving others in love, and accountability. I’m passionate about building biblical literacy, moving in union with the Holy Spirit and experiencing the presence and heart of God. I believe in making room for the unusual to move in the mundane, and I’ll never be able to shut up about the power of God to change and transform lives because of what He did for mine.
“to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:3, ESV)
“The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” (Psalm 92:12, ESV)
